Welfare At a Glance

1. Introduction of the Organization

Welfare Family Bangladesh (WFB) is a voluntary and non-governmental development organization (NGO) working for the overall welfare and sustainable development of society since its inception.

The organization was officially registered on January 9, 2002, under the Department of Social Services, Ministry of Social Welfare, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, and began its activities as a voluntary organization.

Later, on March 7, 2007, WFB obtained registration from the NGO Affairs Bureau, Prime Minister’s Office, Dhaka, expanding its activities and operational areas nationwide.

To make its development initiatives more dynamic, technology-driven, and sustainable, Welfare Technologies Services Limited (WTSL) was established on July 20, 2020, under the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC), Ministry of Commerce, Dhaka. WTSL functions as a social and economic enterprise providing financial, technical, and technological support to WFB’s development operations.

Subsequently, a joint collaboration framework was established between WFB and WTSL, integrating NGO and company partnership structures, and officially approved through a Government Gazette Notification published in the Bangladesh Gazette (Extraordinary Issue).

Through this joint platform, both institutions are working together to deliver effective development, welfare, and technology-based services across different sectors of society.

Our digital service platforms, My Welfare App and welfarebd.org, bring together various communities—students, farmers, entrepreneurs, and general citizens—under one umbrella to access inclusive and integrated welfare services.

2. Objectives and Purpose of the Organization

The primary goal of the organization is to build a just, equitable, and self-reliant society by ensuring the active participation of marginalized communities in the process of social development.

To achieve this goal, the organization implements activities related to poverty alleviation, education, health, technology, human rights, and sustainable livelihood development.

For the improvement of the quality of life of the target population, the organization may receive donations, grants, investments, or loans from domestic and foreign donors to design and implement short, medium, and long-term social, economic, commercial, and development-oriented projects and programs.
